Design pressure is not compromised for size because of our quality engineering practices. We meet some of the highest design loads ( up to +/-165 psg) with the tested sizing options you need. Meeting the highest design standards also means unparalleled protection against water intrusion. We pass the tough testing requirements for Miami-Dade NOAs, AAMA and ASTM, and our storefront entrances meet ADA requirements. We meet the building codes you will need to comply with when installing new windows or doors.

window performanceMiami-Dade County has the strictest test protocols in the country for wind-borne debris, air and water tests. The Miami-Dade County Notice of Acceptance (NOA) for impact-resistant products is the best way to be sure that a window has been tested and meets all the requirements for hurricane protection in the High Velocity Hurricane Zone (Miami-Dade and Broward counties). The Florida Building Commission recognizes Miami-Dade NOAs as approved products. WinGuard with aluminum frames carries Miami-Dade approval on all products.

Building Codes

New building codes and requirements have recently been enacted in several states to provide increased protection of lives and property in areas subject to hurricanes. Because code standards and requirements vary from state-to-state and among local jurisdictions, please check with your local building authority for the most recent code requirements.

The 2010 Florida Building Code went into effect March 15, 2012. Depending on location, builders are required to construct homes to withstand wind speeds of 120 to 180 miles per hour. Homes in the wind-borne debris region, depicted on the map below, require hurricane shutters or impact-resistant windows and doors. PGT® WinGuard® and PremierVue™ products are designed to meet or exceed the requirements of the wind-borne debris region.
